CalBank PLC has donated an amount of GHS 59,710 to the Xornam Foundation to assist in the construction of a 3-unit classroom block for the Hodzo Ve Junior High School. The project which is due to commence this month, is slated for completion just in time for the next academic year.
The Xornam Foundation reached out to CalBank to assist in the construction of the classroom block. The school has been without a classroom block with teaching and learning done under a temporary bamboo structure which is in a deplorable state.
The project which comes at a cost of GHS 59,710 will benefit the pupils in the Hodzo Ve Junior High School as well as its surrounding communities and will also aim to:
- Improve the social well being of the children and teachers of the school
- Improve teaching and learning in the school.
- Help the children in the community develop an interest in education.
- Change the perception of the community towards education.
Events and Sponsorships Officer, Peter Hall, speaking on behalf of CalBank stated: “We aim to help the less privileged in society and we believe that this donation for the construction of the classroom block would go a long way to help the students of Hodzo Ve and its surrounding communities.“
Receiving the cheque at the event, Praise Anani, of the Xornam Foundation expressed her profound gratitude to CalBank for the kind gesture. “We are so excited that in a few months, the students of Hodzo Ve Senior High School will no longer be studying under sheds thanks to CalBank. We appreciate this kind gesture in helping to improve the lives of the people in the area ” she noted.
The Xornam foundation is a non-governmental organisation and non-profit organisation operating since 2017 with the goal of empowering the underprivileged and disadvantaged in society.
