CalBank on Thursday, October 10, 2019, unveiled a new sponsorship package for the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA). The media launch which was held on the premises of the CalBank Towers attracted a cross section of the press corps, dignitaries from the Ghana Football Association (GFA); friends and sympathizers of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association to mention a few.

At the media launch, the Bank, represented by the Marketing Manager, Mr. Kofi Siabi; reiterated the Bank’s continual support to the GBSA. According to him, the Bank was keen on developing lesser known sports in the country and has been supporting Beach Soccer for the past nine (9) years. He added that, the Bank also recognizes Beach Soccer as one of the fastest growing sports in the world, hence the Bank’s continual support. The Bank’s support will be in three folds; an amount of GHS150,000.00 to be allocated towards the development of the domestic National Super League; USD100,000.00 towards the national team “Black Sharks” and lastly support towards the management of the games or league. These amounts would be made available upon request by the association for the various projects earmarked for 2019/2020. Mr. Kofi Siabi added, “the Bank is keen to support the GBSA in the construction of a Beach Soccer Arena so we would advise that you take advantage of this.”

In response, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, President of the GBSA, expressed his excitement of CalBank’s continual support. He affirmed that this support will give them the impetus to renew discussions with the various landowners as they seek to secure a land for the construction of the arena.

Dr. Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the Normalization Committee for GFA, praised the President of GBSA for his relentless effort despite the many hurdles they faced as an association. He commended CalBank for believing in GBSA and for their continual support to the association at a time no one will support them. He added that, he is hopeful through beach soccer, there will be development in interest to continually support as the Bank has done over the past nine (9) years.
