CalBank National Service Renovates Male Infirmary Ward at Accra Psychiatric Hospital

The 2018-19 batch of National Service Persons posted to CalBank Ltd has handed over the renovated Male Infirmary Ward at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to Management of the Hospital at a ceremony in Accra.

The renovation of the ward costing GHS97,000.00, included changing the entire roof from asbestos to galvanized aluminum sheets, ceiling replacement, fixing of new floor tiles, redesigning and fixing the entrance doors and locks. The Team also reconstructed the washroom, bathhouse and water closets for both staff and inmates. The Ward was also furnished with five (5) new utility beds, new desks and chairs for the nurses.

Handing over the refurbished facility to management of the Hospital, Mr. Samuel K. Boafo, Head, Human Resource of CalBank stated that the project was in line with the Bank’s mission of using staff to positively impact society. He stated that this year’s project was the 12thproject undertaken solely by National Service Personnel with funds from their allowance and contribution from other sponsors. He was hopeful that the Management of the hospital will ensure effective maintenance of the facility to justify the efforts of the personnel towards ensuring that effective mental health delivery at the Hospital will be realised.

According to Miss Catherine Djangmah, President of the 2018/2019 batch of NSP at CalBank, the dream of the group has been accomplished. She commended the personnel, Management of CalBank Ltd and other sponsors for their support.

The Deputy Director, Administration at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Mr. Julius Kuusaalesuo expressed the appreciation of Management to the Personnel for coming to the aid of the Hospital, which according to him, was in dire need of similar gestures as demonstrated by the personnel from CalBank Ltd.

He stated that the ward can now operate effectively due to the conducive environment and the material support.
