The results demonstrate strong earnings growth, substantial balance sheet expansion and significant improvements in key regulatory and asset-quality indicators.
Strong Earnings Growth and Improved Revenue Performance
At the Bank level, profit before tax (PBT) increased by 34% to GH¢477.3 million, from GH¢355 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Profit after tax for the period rose by 39% to GH¢321.7 million. At the Group level, profit after tax increased by 51% to GH¢337.2 million, compared with GH¢223.9 million a year earlier.

Net trading income also recorded substantial growth, increasing to GH¢253.5 million from GH¢88.8 million in the prior-year period. This performance demonstrates the Bank’s strengthened earnings capacity and sustained transformation of its core banking business.
Accelerating Balance Sheet Growth and Customer Deposits
CalBank continued to expand its balance sheet, supported by robust growth in customer deposits and lending activity. Total assets increased by 34% to GH¢14.5 billion as at 30 September 2026, from GH¢10.9 billion a year earlier. Total deposits grew by 27% to GH¢11.1 billion, up from GH¢8.7 billion, reflecting continued growth in the Bank’s deposit franchise and customer relationships.
Net loans and advances to customers increased by 60% to GH¢2.05 billion, compared with GH¢1.28 billion in September 2025, reflecting the Bank’s renewed capacity to extend credit responsibly in support of viable businesses and creditworthy customers.
Stronger Capital, Improved Asset Quality and Enhanced Financial Resilience
Shareholders’ equity increased to GH¢1.85 billion, from GH¢448.1 million at the end of September 2025. Stated capital stood at GH¢1.42 billion, reflecting the impact of the Rights Issue in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the profit over the period to end September 2026.
The Bank’s capital adequacy ratio (CAR) improved to 18.4%, from negative 1.6% in September 2025, while the Common Equity Tier 1 ratio increased to 16.4%, from negative 4.6%. The leverage ratio also improved to 5.8%, from negative 2.6%, while the liquidity ratio also improved to 83.9%, from 73.9%.
The Bank’s non-performing loan (NPL) ratio declined to 8.5%, from 26.5% a year earlier, reflecting progress driven by disciplined credit underwriting, proactive portfolio monitoring, effective recoveries and responsible loan growth.
Collectively, these gains significantly strengthen the Bank’s balance sheet, regulatory capital and liquidity position, providing an even stronger foundation for accelerated business growth.
Commenting on the results, Mr Carl Asem said: “Our nine-month performance reflects the significant progress CalBank continues to make in building a stronger, more resilient institution. We are encouraged by the momentum across our business and remain focused on translating this progress into better customer experiences, faster and more efficient service delivery, expanded digital offerings, and increased support for viable businesses and households.”
Mr Asem added: “Looking ahead, our priority is to build on this momentum and deliver consistent, broad-based value for our customers and shareholders. We will pursue responsible growth across the corporate, personal, and SME segments, strengthen our revenue generation capabilities, improve operational efficiency and maintain a firm focus on asset quality. We are building for the long term, a stronger, more resilient and technology-enabled CalBank, positioned to support Ghana’s economic development and deliver sustainable value.”
