The launch event, held at the bank’s head office at Ridge in Accra, brought together management and staff to reflect on the guiding principles that have shaped CalBank’s journey over the past three and a half decades.
Managing Director Carl Selassie Asem stated that R.E.D. Values Week underscores the bank’s culture of excellence, responsibility, and resilience.

“R.E.D. Values Week coincided with our 35th anniversary, and we thought it wise to celebrate 35 years of success through our values—being responsible, effective in our dealings, and very decisive,” he said.
Asem added that the week-long celebration is designed to encourage staff to reflect on their individual roles and identify ways to better serve customers.
“All staff are taking time to reflect on their roles and what we can do better for our customers. After this internal reflection, we will engage our customers to share these experiences,” he added.
Looking ahead, CalBank plans to focus more on individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), who are expected to contribute about 70 percent of the bank’s revenue in the coming years.
“Our strategy, as approved by the board last year, is to focus on individuals and SMEs. The majority of businesses in the communities we serve come from SMEs, and we want to remain relevant and impactful in that space,” Asem said.
R.E.D. Values Week will climax on Saturday with a staff walk from the head office at Ridge, through 37, and back. The walk symbolises the bank’s journey and its continued commitment to growth, community, and customer-focused service.
