Our Focus
We invest in education, healthcare, arts and culture, and sports to support sustainable community development.
Education
At CalBank, we believe education is key to breaking poverty and building a skilled, sustainable workforce. That’s why a major part of our community investment supports needy children’s education in line with SDG Pillar 4. We have adopted eight needy homes nationwide, offering financial, material, and educational support from basic to tertiary levels — with internship and employment opportunities at the Bank. Beyond this, we’ve contributed to building library blocks in refugee camps and support youth financial literacy workshops to nurture responsible, empowered citizens for a better future.
Sports
CalBank is passionate about connecting with what Ghanaians love — and football remains at the heart of it. In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 3 on good health and well-being, the Bank has been a proud supporter of Beach Soccer since 2013, promoting youth engagement and social inclusion along Ghana’s coastline. Through the CalBank Beach Soccer Association, the Bank provides platforms, kits, and financial support to teams nationwide. Beyond beach soccer, CalBank also supports the growth of golf and cricket, empowering the youth and fostering community development through sports.
Health
Health and well-being are fundamental human rights, and CalBank is committed to supporting healthcare delivery and infrastructure. Over the years, the Bank has partnered with UNICEF and the Ghana Health Service to provide neonatal equipment to deprived hospitals, helping reduce infant mortality in line with SDG Goal 3. This annual staff-led initiative complements other projects, including the construction of hospital facilities and consistent support for key health institutions such as the Korle-Bu Burns Centre, Ghana Heart Foundation, and the Judith Ellen Awuah Darko Foundation.
Culture
At CalBank, we see culture as a vital part of our social investment, focused on preserving and promoting Ghana’s rich traditions to drive unity and national development. Over the years, we’ve supported arts and cultural initiatives that bring people together, foster harmony, and celebrate our shared heritage.
Other socially responsible initiatives
Beyond our four main community development pillars, CalBank also supports key sectors aligned with the SDGs including Climate Action (Goal 13), where staff engage in tree planting to protect the environment, and No Poverty (Goal 1), by improving the living conditions of underprivileged and needy children to make a positive impact in their lives.
